Sew a Leather Zipper Pouch
Fancy makeup pouch, evening clutch, catch-all for cords -- you decide! Whatever you call it, this gorgeous lined leather bag is the perfect little thing for whatever you have that needs holding. (You can even attach an optional wrist strap, if you like!)
Join us for this stellar workshop led by Brooklyn-based designer Joey Casey. In just three hours you'll learn the beginner basics of sewing with leather, and you'll leave with an adorable little bag. Take your pick of several vibrant colors of supple leather, as well as colorful zippers, and a variety of patterned lining fabrics. You'll make a bag that's 100% you--with your choice of color combinations throughout.
In this workshop you'll learn:
- The beginner basics of sewing leather, with a focus on how it differs from fabric.
- How to select the right type of leather for home sewing.
- How to cut leather and sew basic seams on a machine.
- How to install a zipper.
- How to add a lining to your bag.
- How to attach a wrist strap.
Skill requirements: This is not a learn-to-sew class; you must have basic sewing skills and be comfortable using a sewing machine. Our Sewing 101 (or equivalent) is a prerequisite to this workshop.
