WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
2024 marks the seventh year of the Instagram challenge #MendMarch hosted by Kate Sekules of Visible Mending. This challenge encourages makers to go to their pile of items that need mending and repair them in a fun way. Join us for a special edition Crafty Hour to celebrate #MendMarch and skill up your mending.
What's a Crafty Hour? It's a casual, 1-2 hour workshop offered at a deeply discounted rate. What better way to kick off spring and close out you #MendMarch? Grab a friend, bring a refreshment, and let's hang out!
On Friday 3/29, join us for the magic of patch mending! Transform worn, beloved garments into something fresh and fun that you'll be excited to wear again. You'll learn how to patch using both interior and exterior patches! Bring an item to mend and choose from our woven fabric scraps, sashiko thread, and more to save your garments from the landfill! Students should bring 1-3 garments to mend. Note: we may only get to 1 depending on the size and state of the mend. We'll be learning to mend with woven patches only. If you're interested in mending knits, stay tune for our Knits Darning workshop coming up in May.

Class Length: Approximately 1-1.5 hours
Location: We have two locations in Greenpoint, Brooklyn: The BCC Shop at 165 Greenpoint Ave, and The BCC Annex 37 Greenpoint Ave #105. Your workshop location will be indicated when selecting your workshop date above. Your booking confirmation email and any subsequent reminder emails will also include the address, with a link to the location on Google Maps.
Cost: $25 includes instruction and all materials & tools, except for the item you are mending.
