Step up your bag sewing game and make a Ferris Bag!

Ferris is a useful fanny pack that can be worn crossbody or around the hip. It features a zipper pocket, zipper top closure, adjustable strap and is fully lined. The name and design of this pattern was inspired by one of my favorite 1980's comedies. Can you guess which one?

In this workshop, we’ll cover how to:

  • Create a bag lining
  • Make a crossbody/hip strap out of webbing
  • Sew exterior zipper pockets
  • Install a zipper, swivel snaps, and strap sliders
  • Please note: Students can choose to make either the medium or large version of this bag. We will be omitting fusible fleece and will be using webbing for straps rather than making the straps out of fabric.

Skill level: This is an intermediate level workshop. Recent sewing experience is required! While you don't need to be an expert level sewer to take this workshop, this shouldn't be your first or second project. Ideally you have sewn at least a few projects in the recent past and are very comfortable using a sewing machine. If you think you need a bit of practice before tacking this project, our Zipper Pouch workshop is a great way to prepare! If you're unsure if you're qualified for this workshop, just shoot us an email summarizing your experience and we'll be happy to chat!

Fabric, thread, and hardware will be available for purchase in our retail shop at a 10% discount to students. All tools needed to complete this class will be provided and sewing machines will be available courtesy of BERNINA of America.
