Filet crochet is a classic technique that creates grid-like patterns using open and filled squares. Beautiful filet crochet banners and accessories are all over social media these days... and for good reason! This technique is perfect for graphic illustrations and text. 

In this workshop, you'll learn:

  • Yarn & hook information
  • How to create crochet mesh
  • How to fill in spaces using filet crochet techniques
  • How to follow a filet crochet chart
  • How to block finished crochet to even out and relax your stitches

Students will choose from a selection of designs to stitch and get started on their favorite during class!

 

Basic crochet skills are required to attend this workshop. You must be confident in the following:

  • Chain stitches
  • Either single crochet or double crochet

Location: We have two locations in Greenpoint, Brooklyn: The BCC Shop at 165 Greenpoint Ave, and The BCC Annex 37 Greenpoint Ave #105.  Your workshop location will be indicated when selecting your workshop date above. Your booking confirmation email and any subsequent reminder emails will also include the address, with a link to the location on Google Maps.

Cost: $55 includes three hours of instruction. Yarn and crochet hook can be purchased during class; a 10% discount will be honored for all students the day of class.

 Meet Your Instructors

Ginny is a crocheter and knitter based in Brooklyn. She first learned to crochet in 7th grade, thanks to a friend who taught her during gym class. She has sought out opportunities to share the joy of fiber arts ever since. Over the years, Ginny has created nearly every type of project imaginable, but she especially loves to make well-fitting clothing. She also enjoys designing her own patterns and exploring the possibilities of circular machine knitting.

This is an advanced beginner workshop. Students must know arrive knowing how to:

  • Chain
  • Single crochet
  • Must have completed at least one project in the recent past!

If you're a total newbie or need a refresher, take one of our Crochet 101 workshops first!

All materials needed for class are available to be purchased at our shop in person or online as a local pick up order at a 10% student discount. Please note, within 24 hrs of registering for the workshop, you will receive a discount code for the materials needed. For Crochet 101 you will need:
