GREENPOINT WORKSHOP: Upcycled Rag Rug

Learn how to make a cute, custom rug for your home!
In this two-hour workshop led by instructor Molly George, you'll learn how to transform strips of fabric into a stylish home decor using a beginner crochet skills. No previous crochet experience is required!
This workshop will cover:
- How to crochet in the round
- How to properly cut used clothing into strips suitable for crochet and join them together
- How to experiment with color combinations for appealing results
Fabric & Supplies
Fabric quantities required will vary depending on the desired size of your rug; approximately 5-6 yards of fabric will make a 2-foot rug. Students are encouraged to bring discarded clothing, bedding, or sewing scraps for use at this workshop. Medium weight woven fabrics work best for this project, but t-shirts and other knits that are not too thin or stretchy can also be used. Feel free to bring a variety of items and the instructor will help you pick out what will work best! If you'd like to integrate specific colors or textures, additional fabric will also be available for sale at our shop at a 10% discount.
Crochet hooks will be available for purchase during class at a 10% discount.

Cost: $45 includes two hours of instruction. Fabric and crochet hook can be purchased during class; a 10% discount will be honored for all students the day of class.

Molly George is a textile artist and teacher living in Brooklyn, NY. She is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), a practicing artist, and a youth and adult teacher in the textile arts.
