Learn To Crochet Video Series: Chain Stitch

video series chain stitch title card

Oh, hey there, new crochet friend! Want to learn the basics of crochet? We're here to help make it happen!

Welcome to our new video series, where Carolyn demonstrates the essential skills you need to start your first crochet project: the foundation chain, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, and more!

Once you learn these basic crochet skills (or brush up again), you'll be on your way to making tons of projects, like the Crazy-Easy Crochet Cowl (get the free pattern here!) or even the Picnic Plaid Kerchief if you are feeling adventurous!

Ready to get stitching? Grab some yarn and let's get started!

PS: Not sure what kind of yarn to start with if you're a beginner? We recommend a chunky yarn, which makes it easy for newbies to see their stitches as they learn. We would also recommend using a slightly lighter color for your first few projects. In these videos, Carolyn is working with Wool and The Gang Alpachino Merino, and size K or 6.5 mm Clover amour crochet hook.

In our first installment, we will be discussing the foundation chain, or the chain stitch. Carolyn will be going nice and slow and giving lots of good tips and tricks, so check it out here:

Got any questions for us about the chain stitch? Leave us a comment below! We will see you here next time for our next stitch, the single crochet.
