Learn to make a Pattern Fantastique Vali Dress in this 6-part virtual sewing course!

The Vali Dress is a classic 70's style glam smock. The high neckline is surrounded by sleeve and yoke gathers. Volumes of fabric, fine ties, topstitched facings and pocket bags will transform the simplest of materials into a romantic, textured and detailed dress or top. We will be covering the drop neckline view of this pattern!

This workshop will (virtually!) meet for six sessions. You'll learn how to:

  • Print and assemble a PDF pattern at home
  • Measure the body accurately to create a perfect fit
  • Work from a commercial pattern, including size selection, deciphering instructions, cutting from paper pattern pieces, and more
  • Sew a drop neckline
  • Sew fabric ties
  • Sew a gathered yoke and voluminous gathered sleeves
  • Topstitch a facing
  • Please note: We will be covering how to sew the drop neck view only. We will not be covering the standard neckline version of this garment.

She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the department of Film, Video, and New Media.

Her mother taught her to sew around the age of 10, and it grew from a personal hobby, until it became her main artistic outlet. After selling ready-to-wear garments for many years, Christine turned her focus to teaching others to experience the joy of making clothing for themselves through her patterns, books, and workshops.
