VIRTUAL WORKSHOP: Sew a Remy Raglan Top

This workshop will (virtually!) meet for four sessions. You'll learn how to:

• Print and assemble a PDF pattern at home (or opt to use the pre-printed version of the pattern!)

• Measure the body accurately to create a perfect fit

• Work from a commercial pattern, including size selection, deciphering instructions, cutting from paper pattern pieces, and more

• Sew a front keyhole button closure

• Construct a raglan sleeve

• Sew your choice of sleeve length: short sleeves, 3/4 length sleeves, or gathered bracelet length sleeves

• Please note: We will covering how to sew Version #2 (split front) only, with any sleeve option. We will not be covering the plain-front version of this garment (Version #1)

Skill Requirements

Please note this is a advanced beginner level workshop. This workshop is suitable for advanced beginners/intermediate students who are comfortable using their sewing machine and have completed a garment project in the recent past.

• 1.5-3.5 yards lightweight woven fabric like linen (depending on size and fabric width, see chart in photos above). If you choose a more rigid fabric such as cotton lawn, the neck may appear smaller and the bottom hem fuller. For short sleeve option choose a fabric with no obvious wrong side.

• 1 x 12-20mm button

• 1 spool of all-purpose sewing thread

• Marking tool like tailor's chalk, chalk wheel, or water soluble fabric marker

• Straight pins

• Fabric scissors or rotary cutter/mat

• Sewing machine -- please make sure your machine is in good working order before registering for this workshop. 

• Iron and ironing board or mat
