We're excited to welcome visiting instructor Tatiana Castillo, a Colombian textile artist, embroidery teacher, and author!
Embroidery on paper is one of the most creative and recent explorations in design and art. This surface needs a special preparation and development and it gives us the possibility of intervening photos or different types of paper with colorful stitches and textures.
Participants will learn about the use of different stitches in embroidery on paper, ideal materials for this surface, ways to intervene it and final care of the pieces.
Your registration fee includes all required materials, including a variety of papers, embroidery needles, embroidery thread, and tapes.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Tatiana Castillo is a Colombian textile artist, embroidery teacher, and author, based in her studio in Bogotá, Colombia. Her main creative interest lies in exploring the dialogue between fabrics, traditional Latin American embroidery, and the female body. Her work investigates the connection between popular art iconographies across different communities and feminine identities.
This exploration has led her to exhibit her work in Seattle (USA), Mexico City, and Tel Aviv
(Israel), where her work received an Honorable Mention at the Photo IS:RAEL Festival
2020. She has also been a dedicated researcher of traditional Latin American embroidery
techniques.
Since 2015, she has given lectures and embroidery workshops at museums and cultural
organizations in the United States, Greece, Colombia, and Mexico.
Her first book, Agujas, puntadas y secretos, was published by Editorial Planeta in October 2022.
