Picnic Plaid Kerchief Stitchalong: Part 2

work in progress of the weaving portion of the picnic plaid kerchief

Welcome back to the stitchalong! We hope you have been enjoying the first portion of the Picnic Plaid Kerchief! We find that crocheting mesh can be super therapeutic and relaxing once you get in the zone, especially since the increasing in this project is so straightforward.

Today's post is all about the plaid portion of the project, which is achieved by weaving some of the same colors of yarn through the mesh holes of the triangle we just created.

Weaving is a simple and fun craft, have you tried it?  If you end up enjoying this part of the stitchalong, you should consider taking our beginner loom weaving workshop! Click here for more details and to register.

Let's get started! you will need:

materials needed for weaving

Your WIP (work in progress)

Your yarn

A tapestry needle (we prefer this one)

Scissors

A few helpful tips and tricks:

  • Make sure to double check that you don't twist your yarn as you weave
  • Pull from both ends of the yarn when weaving so you don't need to pre-cut a bunch of lengths of yarn
  • Give your project a nice stretch before tying off the weaving tails

Let us know if you have any questions about the process! We will be back next week to finish our kerchief with a single crochet border.
