In just one afternoon, you'll make your own reversible bucket hat, perfect for all of your outdoor adventures this spring and summer. Check out the video in the photo section above!

This workshop will cover how to:

  • Identify the right fabric and other materials for this type of project
  • Cut out and assemble pattern pieces and fabric
  • Follow sewing best practices
  • Make an awesome hat from start to finish!

This is not a learn-to-sew class; you must have basic sewing skills and be comfortable using a sewing machine.

Cost: $95 includes instrution and use of our BERNINA sewing machines, but does not include fabric. All materials will be available for purchase at class with a 10% discount.

Emily Habashy is a Queens-based sewist, fiber artist, and illustrator. She runs Pink Art Machine Studio, where she makes cute and colorful goods ranging from home decor to clothing. Find her on Instagram and TikTok @pinkartmachine.

This is not a learn-to-sew class; you must have basic sewing skills and be comfortable using a sewing machine. If you're not sure if you have enough experience, feel free to email info@brooklyncraftcompany.com to discuss! If you're a total newbie, consider taking one of our Sewing 101 workshops.

Materials needed for class are available to be purchased at our shop in person or online as a local pick up order at a 10% student discount. Please note, within 24 hrs of registering for the workshop, you will receive the discount code for the materials needed. The pattern and materials are not included in registration fee. For the Bucket Hat you will need: 

  • 1/2 yard for the outer fabric*
  • 1/2 yard for the lining fabric*
  • Thread (note: your thread will show around the brim of the hat. You can choose if you want it to match or contrast)

**For a more structured hat, we recommend using a heavier fabric for both the lining and outer fabric such as Canvas If you prefer a more floppy/ less structured hat, for the lining you could opt for a Quilting Cotton or a Cotton/Linen blend
